Campers live in single gender cabins according to their school. Cabins are rustic wooden structures (no a/c) with screen windows lined with wooden or metal bunkbeds. Every cabin has electricity. Most of our cabins fit up to 16 campers with 4-6 counselors who live on the counselor porch of each cabin. Cabins are not air conditioned.
Restrooms and showers are in a central location at the Camp Lodge.
Our lodge is the site of three full-camp meals a day. It also includes the boys’ and girls’ bathrooms and shower facilities for camp.
Our covered pavilion space is the venue for the Thursday night lip-sync competition and Friday night camp dance. This space is also utilized throughout the week for morning and afternoon activities such as yoga, line-dancing, and guest speakers.
Located by the waterfront, the White House houses the camp store, first-aid center, and boasts the best front porch in Madison County.
The lake and surrounding waterfront serve as the social center of Gaar Mountain Running Camp. On any given morning or afternoon campers can be seen swimming, canoeing, paddleboarding, relaxing on the dock, working through core routines on the sand, playing volleyball, and much more.
Additional spaces on camp grounds include an extensive horse trail for hiking, two grass athletic fields for drills and other activities, and an enclosed basketball court.
